Remedial Massage & Wellbeing

Embodied Being is where western science and eastern holistic traditions combine to create overall health of the mind, body and spirit.

Hi I’m Wendy

I am passionate about health, movement and the mind-body connection. I bring to my practice years of study and experience in both western and eastern modalities.

As the founder of Embodied Being, it is my desire to empower you to move with more ease and awareness in your body. In our hectic world, it's all too common to feel overwhelmed and overlook the subtle signals your body is sending. Many of us simply endure pain or grow accustomed to restricted movement or poor postural habits.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

I can offer you real, easily-integrated and practical solutions that can assist you to move more freely and mindfully in your body so you can get back to living a full and comfortable life.

My Offerings

I offer remedial massage, intuitive holistic bodywork and restorative yoga and somatic movement sessions that address physical injuries and dysfunction as well as emotional or energetic imbalances within the subtle layers of the body.

What does this mean?

Pain affects people’s lives in different ways, it can be physical, mental and emotional; acute or chronic in nature. When the episode is acute, the person usually bounces back to health in a short period. Chronic pain patterns however, are more established in the body and often are cumulative and result from poor mobility patterns developed over time coupled with blockages in our life force energy (or qi) as a result of stagnancy or from being deficient and depleted. Chronic pain also begins to affect other areas of our life interrupting sleep, digestion, mood and mental acuity. Massage therapy can begin to shift some of these patterns through improving postural alignment, and creating balance and harmony in mind, body and spirit.

How can I help?

I offer a signature massage style and bodywork that incorporates western and eastern techniques influenced by Tom Myers Anatomy Trains, Remedial Massage, Shiatsu and Yoga studies. The integration of these techniques means that the root of the problem can be addressed through:

1.    Joint mobilisation

2.    Soft tissue massage techniques such as Myofascial Release and Trigger point therapy.

3.    Acupressure Meridian Therapy

4. Cupping and gua sha

5.    Stretching, Breathwork and visualization

6.    Creating new postural patterns through awareness and movement therapy

Treatments are designed to empower you to create lasting and sustainable changes to your life so that you can move with greater ease and confidence.

What people are saying…

Who do I help ?

Office workers

Do you spend hours sitting at a desk each day and struggle with neck, shoulder, back pain, headaches, fatigue and overall stiffness.

Meet Jenny. She came to the clinic with very little flexibility and her energy levels were low. These symptoms began to affect other areas of her life; she lacked motivation and she felt like she was in a rut. We devised a care plan together, improved her body-mind connection through massage and proprioception exercises. Introduced some gentle movement, which she incorporated into her day. In a few short weeks she regained her energy and mental focus and felt motivated to enjoy life again.

Tradies

Are you struggling with repetitive use injuries and are these injuries interfering with your ability to work properly?

Meet Dave. He is a carpenter who came to the clinic with shoulder pain and mild golfers elbow. His elbow became inflamed and he was finding it hard to hold his tools. After a few treatments his inflammation reduced, his shoulder pain resolved and he was able to return to work feeling confident again.

Mums and Dads

It can be hectic having small children to look after and run a household. For this reason, many parents put off self-care and just get too busy tending to the day to day demands.

Janet is a full-time Mum and business owner and was coping with life until she had her third child. Breast feeding and holding her baby on one hip while multi-tasking left Janet with chronic lower back pain. She came to the clinic unable to bend properly and in constant pain. We identified poor postural habits that contributed to the pain. We treated affected areas with remedial massage, stretching and integrating self-care tips into her day. She now knows that if she feels any niggling aches in her body, she has a plan in place to relieve it before it develops into pain.

Over 50’s

Growing old doesn’t have to mean losing your balance and mobility. Your body is literally your vehicle through life! The temple that houses your spirit! How do you treat your body? Do you service it as often as you service your car? As we get older, it is important to maintain good health through the basic principles of health. Scheduling in regular massage is like getting a tune-up for your body. It helps improve your circulation, improves the way you move, makes you feel good through connection and receiving caring touch. In other words, massage nourishes you on all levels and keeps you healthy and feeling youthful. I’ve treated many older people and they are so appreciative of the care they receive and the benefits it brings to their well-being.
